I do not have to go back to Chez Foley. It might be a good place to have an appetizer and a beverage after a day at the lake, but everything goes downhill from there. The bay shrimp cakes with red pepper aoli and saffron aoli tasted excellent, and the price, though high, was acceptable for good quality seafood and the accompanying dipping sauces. The mixed greens with strawberry vinaigrette was only fair. We split the salad, and the dressing did not meet our standards. It unpleasantly conflicted with the salad. The server recommended the Caesar salad, and I should have heeded her warning. My blackened yellowfin tuna with (four) scallops in a pear-ginger cream sauce also fell short of my expectations. It was served with garlic mashed potatoes and mixed veggies, which were o.k. The restaurant could have charged $10 less for the entree, and I still could not recommend it. I only hope that it was an off night for the restaurant, because there are better restaurants in the area that offer stiff competition. |
