I really liked this place. It had a nice ambiance the waitress spoke to you in Spanish and the food was good. What more can you ask for in a Mexican Restaurant? I had the Chicken Chimichanga. It was different than most chimichangas and I am quite an expert since I order them almost whenever I go to a Mexican Restaurant. I know they are bad for me and there are much more healthier choices on a Mexican menu, but I don't care. For those who don't order bad for you food or have never had one. It is basically a burrito but deep fried. Most Americanized Mexican restaurants will simply have the meat in them. This is obviously because they make them ahead, freeze them and then take them out and deep fry them. However, here it had lettuce, tomatoes, guacamole, and sour cream all inside. So it was made fresh to order, which made it really good. I think I will go back every once in awhile just for the chimichanga. |
Ay Carumba is a good local Mexican restaurant. I would recommend it to those nearby, but there was nothing extraordinary in my combination dinner to go out of the way for. Now, there was quesa fresca cheese in the enchilada, not just your ordinary cheddar. Otherwise, the flauta and tostada were standard fare. I was somewhat disappointed that the tomatoes and lettuce were not the best available, especially at the end of summer. One of the best things about going to these local restaurants is that they usually are not too busy, the food's good, and your are supporting a small business. |
