This was a unique restaurant by Minneapolis/St. Paul standards. First, they only have one seating at 7:30. I found this to be rather enjoyable, because there was no rush to eat quickly so they could turn tables. Second, they only had a pre fixed menu with no choices, so you got what they served you. This seemed to work well for them, every dish was beautifully presented. They offered an optional wine pairing where they had chosen a wine to go with each course. This was very interesting, normally I would not have had wine, but this took the intimidation of ordering wine away so we did try it.

The food was very good and unusual. Every course had something paired together that was unexpected. As you can see it was quite a menu. Everything was very well prepared and tasted well together, even though sometimes when they described it, I wondered if it would. This evening's menu was $39.95 per person, but the price ranges depending on what they are serving. They have different festivals throughout the year that I think would be interesting to partake in. In these festivals they pick an ingredient such as garlic, truffles, morels and then they put that ingredient in every course. I am very curious to see how garlic is incorporated into a dessert and will return one day to find out.

It's hard to believe that we visited three restaurants in a row of such high-quality has Fiddleheads, Schumacher's, and Bayport Cookery. All three are excellent and set a high standard for other restaurants, not to mention that they spoil reviewers.

Bayport Cookery feels like a theater. There is one sitting at 7:30 pm each night. They fill the restaurant, and then they serve several courses before concluding around 10:00 pm. When you arrive, you look around and see other people who share your same interest in good food.

Renee and I ate at a wine pairing dinner. An appropriate wine accompanied each of the five courses. This was great for us, knowing very little about wine. You can see above what we had for dinner; everything was good or excellent.
