Canyon Grille looks like any of the new suburban chain look alike restaurants. From the outside you might be going to an Outback, Chili's or Red Lobster. Once you walk in you will see a nice, slightly more interesting design than the above, but still you may not be sure.

The food is where the separation becomes more evident. The eggrolls were very good, as good as some of the best I have had. Of course being the suburbs you got four for an appetizer instead of two, but if you were in the bar and needed a snack I would highly recommend it.

The Walleye was good, the red pepper mashed potatoes were a different color than normal mashed potatoes, but I didn't really taste that much of a difference. They did have a curry mashed potato option, which I wish I had tried, just to see if it would have been more exciting. The other potato options were baked, scalloped, stuffed and rice pilaf. The stuffed potato was a baked potato stuffed with bacon and cheddar cheese.

The dessert looked very good a quite nice presentation which reminded me a bit of the dessert we had at 20-21. I was not as impressed with the taste, it was definitely good, but not quite top dollar good.

Overall, if you are in the area for any reason...say roller derby or Lowes, this might be a good place to try out, but I wouldn't make a special trip out there for it.

We had a good meal at Canyon Grille, but this wasn't a star performer. In many ways, the restaurant overcompensates for its prices by heaping quantity. This is a restaurant that gives 'em what they want-- quantity and deep fried egg rolls. But in a development full of fast food and chain restaurants, this place will stand out and do okay.

The egg rolls, cajun chicken pasta, and chocolate pyramid were all good. Each of the dishes were basic, no frills, and straightforward. My only complaint was the price as mentioned above (the service was unpolished, but that's forgivable). But then, I am reminded again how there is a large demographic that will pay slightly more for a larger portion of average food in a new location in a place surrounded by bland competition.
