The ambiance: Old Boy's Club. Lots of portraits and fancy woodwork. Here's one of my pet peeves: You arrive at a restaurant before the dinner rush. You are the second, third, or fourth party to be seated. You are seated uncomfortably close to another party. What is the host/hostess thinking? Let's pack them in like sardines? That aside, everything here is expensive I had the Steak Au Poivre, which I realize I should not have ordered. This dish takes a perfectly good steak (cooked well, nice cut) and covers it in fresh ground black pepper. I almost gagged, except that I had to finish to teach myself a lesson: never order this again. The Lyonnaise Potatoes were nothing special, and they should be included in the price of the entree instead of a la carte. The clientele: Trophy wives and their fat cats. The Service: Excellent The recommendation: There are good steaks elsewhere much cheaper. |
