Every neighborhood would be lucky to have a nice italian place like this in it. The restaurant is not really a destination restaurant, but a nice neighborhood cafe. All the food was well done, the surroundings were comfortable and looked like many of the patrons knew one another. It would be a nice place to go for dinner any night of the week or weekend. The great thing is they just don't serve the same old pizza and pasta that many neighborhood places do, they serve dishes that make you think that someone in the kitchen is thinking a bit. We visited Carmelo's Ristorante at 7:00 pm on Saturday night, and yet we had excellent service. This is a sign of a well-run restaurant.

The ambiance is a neighborhood cafe, and it is a very good one at that. We had the mushroom stuffed with crab appetizer that was good, but my seafood linguini was excellent, and I was also impressed with the espresso cheesecake with raspberry sauce.

I was much more impressed with my dishes that Renee was with hers. I can understand having high expectations after visiting some truly outstanding restaurants. But the proof is the statement that we would go back. It is worth the drive despite its reputation as a local spot.
