I really don't want to say much about this Bayport establishment. It was well below my expectations and hopes as far as food goes. The view was wonderful. The service bearable. |
Clyde’s was not good. It ranks on the low end of the fair range for me. I enjoyed the tomato basil soup, but everything else reminded me of not-so-good cafeteria food. The tournedos of beef were well done when I asked for medium rare, far overcooked to be properly enjoyed. Even if it were properly cooked, the beef was not high quality; I would imagine it to be tough and flavorless when it should be tender and delectable. The mushroom sauce that accompanied the beef was like something from a can of soup-- thick, salty, and tasteless. The chevre sounded like a good idea on the menu, but seemed to be a low quality cheese by my taste. At any rate, it only detracted from the disastrous beef with mushroom sauce. The cheesy potatoes tasted like real potatoes flavored with a reconstituted cheese packet. Blech. The cheesecake was your standard cafeteria cheesecake covered with a boring strawberry sauce. It’s something you choose when you don’t trust anything else on the dessert tray. The cheesecake was uninspired; it was the cheesecake you make at home and have had a hundred times covered with strawberry sauce you make when you have strawberries that are a few days old and you want to rescue them. It was hardly worth the calories. The view is fantastic. Unfortunately, the view and the soup were the only things fantastic. I would only recommend Clyde’s for a drink to enjoy the view. |
