  • Vegetable Samosa $3.99 (Shared)
  • Malai Kofta $9.99
  • Chappati $2.99

I noticed this place recently upon driving to my sister's house and I almost stopped to check it out...I imagined something like Falafel King with a big dosai to go. This is not quite the case. They do have a big selection of dosai and the one that Steve had was very good, but the waiter did not recommend taking them to go as they would get too soggy. Although I am guessing a soggy Dosai would be better than a McDonald's hamburger any day.

I had the Malai Kofta which was a great version...one of the best I have had in the city and the Chappati reminded me of the old Bombay Deli on Central which I still miss.

I believe this may become a regular stop for me, when I am on my way home from my sister's and just do not feel like cooking. I might even attempt to bring home a dosai.

  • King's Spring Dosai $7.99

Dosa King was another wonderful surprise. Dosa King rivals some of the best Indian food that we have had; the only problem is that not many people will drive to Spring Lake Park to try it, and I fear that the locals will not support it either. I hope I am wrong.

The vegetable samosa was fresh and delicious. But the real star for me was the King’s Spring Dosai, a crepe-filled with mixed vegetables ,Mysore chutney and garnished with cheese. The spices were outstanding, everything worked well together, and the side sauces were just as delicious. If you are anywhere north of the downtowns, Dosa King should go on your list of Indian restaurants to try in the Twin Cities.

If you go, don’t expect a fancy décor, it’s more of a hole-in-the-wall former chain-smoker pizza joint. Parking in the lot is plentiful.
