On a whim we decided to try a relatively new little Mexican restaurant in NE Mpls and area where many new ethnic restaurants especially Mexican and middle eastern have been opening. It is in a strip mall that has continual turnover. This particular spot has gone through at least four iterations since I have lived in this area (five years). It was great! I had the flautas and the chicken inside was nice and spicy with a bit of BBQ flavor. The salsa verde on top was excellent and the same they served with the great chips. The tamale was good and cheap! I will be going back there many more times. Not only did we get good food, but one of the cutest hosts I have seen. I assume the son of the owners (about seven years old). |
It's amazing when you go to a small Mexican restaurant. It's a leap of faith. You don't know whether it is going to be great or a greasy spoon. El Tequila was great. The chicken chimichanga and the tamale were wonderful. Both were excellent values. It is not worth a drive across the Twin Cities, but if you are in the area, this place is worth a visit. |
