Good quality food at reasonable prices. This is the essence of Guldens. You are not going to get anything fancy. No fancy preparations of chicken or steak or seafood to make your eyes sparkle and tongue tingle. But you will get a steak of good quality with all the fixings for a low price. Everything is included in that low price, soup, salad, potato. None of these things are going to be overly special either.

This is not a place you drive across town for, but if you live in the neighborhood you probably already know about it, because it was packed when we arrived at 5:30. And when we left at 6:10 or so, there was a new round being seated. Oh by the way, this is not a place to sit and dawdle.

Our waitress was one of the best I have seen in awhile, sincerely nice and actually seemed to enjoy what she was doing.

So you think your special? Well your not. Everybody's treated the same at Guldens. Whether you're a V.I.P. or a nobody, you'll have to wait your turn at this family-oriented restaurant. Yes, it's a good local place to take your grandparents and the grandkids. Everybody's welcome.

One of the reasons Guldens is popular is the value. For $10 to $15 you can get an entree with potato, soup, salad bar and dinner roll. I had the half rack of ribs, which was like a hundred other orders of ribs I've had. The salad bar was decent-one of the few left in the Twin Cities. There is not really much to say than this is a good local restaurant with low prices, but nothing special.
