We shared dinner with my sister and her husband and her husband in an effort to get a quote in the review after dining on his fish fry said "I would not swim from Blaine to here for dinner", well I would not even swim from NE Mpls to here for dinner. It is not that the food was terrible, in fact my meat loaf was not bad. I did think the appetizer was way too greasy, but it was still tasty. But the problem was more the price which was a bit spendy for what they served and the service which was a bit slow, no actually it was as slow as it would take me to actually swim from NE Mpls to Harry's which would be exceedingly, painfully slow. And they were not busy so I am not sure what the deal really was with the service. I did notice the wait staff giving each other back rubs behind the curtain, but that still did not account for the slowness of our service.

I enjoyed Harry's, but it is really just fair on the food side, and slow service on our visit pushed it from good to fair. The fried artichoke and parmesan dip was particularly greasy. That's good for a happy hour, but not so hot when you want something higher quality. The hangar steak was fine, nothing outstanding, but nothing to complain about. Inexplicably, the steak was served with 1/2 of an acorn squash. Maybe they are trying to foist healthy habits on patrons. I like acorn squash, but I would have been happy with 1/4 acorn squash. The space is an upscale casual bar and grill. I really admired the Grain Belt Premium chandelier near the entrance. The service was slow on the night we were there. It was especially slow delivering the appetizer and checking back for dessert. The appetizer might be blamed on the kitchen because it was early in the dinner service, but I cannot say that for sure. At the dessert, we were inclined to get dessert until it took so long to check back. Then we decided that it would be better to skip dessert altogether. I would recommend Harry's for a happy hour or even pre-Metrodome event cocktails and appetizers, but not as a destination restaurant for dinner. |
