Heidi's was amazing. Heidi's was sublime. Heidi's was one of the best meals I have had. I am not even sure where to begin or that a review that I could write will be worthy of the food. Each course had a perfect balance of flavors and textures. I truly did not want any of the courses to end and I wanted to savor each bite for as long as possible. At the end our of main course our server asked how it was, and I was quite frankly speechless. He said it would be nice to have a reset button at times like these. And as dorky as that may have sounded that is exactly the way I felt. The crab spring rolls were a beautiful, light, spring appetizer. The ravioli were breathtaking both in how they were beautifully presented and the flavors they imparted. I have not had a better entree...some equals perhaps, but not better and for the price, I can say I have not had a better entree. The dessert was a perfect ending to the perfect meal. I would suggest going to Heidi's at the earliest opportunity, it really is a wonderful restaurant and we are luck to have it in our city.

Heidi’s is amazing. Everything we had was excellent and reasonably priced for the superior quality that came out of the kitchen with every course. We did not eat at other restaurants when Stewart Woodman was in the kitchen, now we know what we missed. Some questions: When was the last time you sat next to a table and overheard: “This is the best pasta I have ever had.”? What kind of super genius comes up with crêpe with foie gras, curried Beluga black lentils, and hibiscus syrup? It was absolutely delicious. And how lucky are we to be dining in the metro area with a super genius who can pull it off? When was the last time you had really flavorful beef tenderloin? Heidi’s beef tenderloin reminded me that you can have flavor in a lean cut of beef. The potatoes on the side were not an afterthought either. How underrated are Heidi’s desserts? We’ve had so many average desserts at other restaurants lately that it’s a treat to finish a great meal with a great dessert. I loved the simple, high quality chocolate cake with perfect homemade espresso ice cream. Heidi Woodman is a fine pastry chef. Do people really appreciate it? 112 Eatery has a cult-like following. Heidi’s is every bit as good as 112 Eatery, but there were fairly long periods on the night we visited where tables were empty. Is there any place in the Twin Cities where the servers really get it like they do at Heidi’s? Service at many places is described as give the customer what they expect. For the most part, service in the Twin Cities is very good and follows this philosophy. At Heidi’s, I felt like the servers really wanted to be servers, and they wanted to be servers at Heidi’s. People come back for great food, and people come back for special occasions for great food and great service. Have you been to Heidi’s? What are you waiting for? One note on prices: We both thought that the pricing seemed pretty low for the quality of food they serve at Heidi’s. I noticed on the web side this week that their summer menu increased the prices of appetizers (the amazing crêpe with foie gras lentils is now $9.75, and still worth every penny). |
