Jun Bo's atmosphere reminded a bit of the dim sum places you might find in New York or San Francisco . The space is big, huge in this case and decor is ok, but not the focus. They did not have the rolling carts out when we were there, but I understand, during busy times they do.

It looks like I ordered a lot, and quite frankly I did, but it has been a long time since I have had dim sum and I also had Steve and our son there to help eat everything. So I was full at the end of the meal, but it wasn't quite as bad as it looks. Everything we had was good, I liked the pork and peanut dumplings and the stuffed tofu the best.

For the Twin Cities area, I think they had good dim sum, but it does not quite compete with the bigger cities.

  • Kung Pao Chicken $11.95

If you need a dim sum fix, Jun Bo might be your place in the Twin Cities. They serve dim sum all day, and all of Renee’s choices were good or very good. I’m not going out on a limb to say this is the best Chinese in town, because it’s nowhere near Tea House or Little Szechuan. Jun Bo serves standard to good versions of each of the dim sum we tried, plus the space is huge (you’ll never have to worry about getting a table), and it’s conveniently located off 494 in Richfield (although not so freaking convenient with the 35-W/Crosstown construction).

I liked the crispy spring roll. The focus was on deep and crispy and the filling was average. The Kung Pao Chicken was a tad on the expensive side, but the dinner portion was enough to take almost half of it home. The dish itself was not really top form, but I’ve had much worse Kung Pao Chicken in the Twin Cities. As Renee explained, it may be Americanized. Americanized or not, I thought it was average at best. The desserts we had were excellent. Both the Coconut Milk Cake and Sesame Balls were very good versions of Chinese standards at a very nice price. If you go to Jun Bo, my advice is to go there for the dim sum and maybe try a few different entrees to find out what they do really well.
