  • Jap Chae Sweet potato noodles with meat and vegetable $11

Ok this is one of our secret places. We have been there many times and have gone there since before we started reviewing. For some reason Steve said we should review it now, so we will. No reason not to it is obviously good actually it is excellent. I have had many of the menu items, but I will admit I tend to order the Japchae more often than not, it is really just so good, probably not good for you, but tasty. I also love the dumplings they are always very tasty. But really I have never had anything bad here. So if you are in the mood for Korean and in the area, stop in.

  • Bulgogi $14

We have been to King's Restaurant several times before, but somehow we've never reviewed it. The unassuming restaurant in a strip mall in Fridley is located next to Seoul Foods grocery, near Ax Man, Fantasy Gifts, and Lifetime Fitness. I'm not sure what all of that means, other than it's an eclectic mix of businesses.

Once you get inside, the restaurant is well appointed and has a nice dining area. They have a full bar and karaoke with a small dance floor, but we have not been there for drinks or karaoke. We've just been there for the Korean food, which is very good. Their bulgogi is tender and flavorful. All of their dumplings (Japanese and Korean) have been delicious. I have also had their Jaejangmyun (alternatively spelled Jajangmyeon), which is noodles with black bean sauce. I have had the dish several times at King's and often crave it.

The service is attentive. It is impressive that all but one of their staff speak Korean. The servers are very good and patient with children, too. If you are interested in good Korean food, King's is worth the drive.
