This is the sister restaurant to Ristorante Luci down the street. I was very excited
as I remembered the wonderful leisurely meal that we had there. |
A great restaurant always draws comparisons. And when a great restaurant opens another location, the comparisons to the original are inevitable. Unfortunately Luci Ancora did not live up to the high expectations I had from memories of Ristorante Luci, which is just down the street. Our appetizer was fabulous - a house-made mozzarella with tomato and (really fresh) basil. The cannellini been soup was then a let down, even at $2.95. My ravioli spinach and ricotta was excellent, but at $8.95 seemed a bit high for what it was. The flourless chocolate torte with raspberry was flawless. The service was less than flawless. On the evening we visited, about twenty people were waiting for tables at 7:30 PM, though they presumably had reservations. Meanwhile, the waiters subtly discouraged dessert, and the coffee wasn't refilled (pet peeve No. 295). |
