This place has been in the process of opening for a long time and it finally did probably a 1/2 year ago. And of course, since it has opened I have been meaning to stop in, but I never get around to it. Finally we did. I liked my fajitas they were good. However, I really wanted the burrito, but since we had a coupon for a buy one get on free entree and the burrito wasn't an entree...I ended up with the fajitas. The cake was also fine. I still prefer many other Mexican places both in my neighborhood and around the city. I personally think it is great that we have so many great Mexican places in the city, but it makes it hard to give this one a rave review. |
We had a good meal at Mexico y Mexico. But we have to admit that we tried it because it was in the neighborhood and we had a two entrées for the price of one coupon (the total bill includes the price of the second entrée). I enjoyed the Adobo de Res, which was steak in a barbecue-like sweet and hot red sauce. The steak was chewy and stringy, but not fatty. With the corn tortillas, rice, and beans (choice of black or pinto), it was a full meal. Not that it stopped us from having dessert. We split the cherry torte, which was a homemade layer cake with good cream frosting. The cake was nondescript, but it was good home cooking. Some other notes: you can tell by the price that Mexico Y Mexico is a casual, order-at-the-counter restaurant. It would be good for lunch or a quick dinner. It’s low-key atmosphere and inexpensive prices would also be good for younger kids. We still prefer Viva Mexico in the neighborhood, but that shouldn’t stop you from trying out Mexico Y Mexico if you live in the neighborhood to see if this is more your style. |
