If you want to be pampered this is the place to go. From the valet parking to the customer is always right attitude this restaurant is top notch.

One expects everything to be perfect and it will be. At Morton's they don't bother with a crab cake they just give you big chunks of crab meat. The shrimp were prepared to perfection, the sauce and breading nice and light so that the flavor of these great shrimp could shine through. The Godiva Chocolate Cake was amazing. Steve and I had to order it because we could not believe that a piece of cake could be worth $8.95. But the first bite of that cake was worth $8.95.

The service was almost impeccable, a few small glitches which were glaringly obvious considering everything else was done to perfection.

  • Filet Mignon $31.95
Just when I was about ready to give up on downtown Minneapolis steak houses we ran across Morton's steak house. Morton's offers the little things that make a dining experience special. We arrived early for our 5:30 reservations, and we went to have a drink at the bar. The maitre d' was conscientious enough to let the bartender know that they were ready to seat parties waiting in the bar. And the service continued to be excellent throughout the meal.

Morton's has one of the biggest pepper grinders in the Twin Cities - approximately three feet long. They used to the pepper grinder to season their gigantic romaine and iceberg lettuce Morton's salad, easily enough for two people to share. Their side dishes, which are a la carte, are also large enough for two people to share, and we would have been content with either a potato or a vegetable.

My filet mignon was perfectly done, medium rare, and perfectly aged. The filet mignon was thick and had excellent flavor, an excellent piece of meat. By itself, the steak was nearly worth the $31.95 charged. After considering the top-notch service and rich decor, the steak and the entire meal were certainly worth the price charged.
