Finally! A restaurant with a view with great food. I am not sure why this is a hard thing to find. Intellectually, I understand that if you have a good view people will probably come anyway just for the view and the food becomes a secondary experience. But still it shouldn't be so hard to find both good food and a good view. In fact, there should be the challenge for the food to match the view.

So pack up your car and take a ride to Waconia. Yes, yes, it is a ways out there for those of us from the city. But for once I can say it is worth the drive. Not only do you get to dine right on Lake Waconia by the marina, you will get food that is worthy of drive and the view. I was a bit concerned as we drove up, from the outside it didn't look like much and as we ventured in there were checked table clothes and the atmosphere was not all that great, but they had lots of windows and that is the point don't look at the walls, look outside that is where it is at.

First the caesar salad, I don't know how many I have had in my lifetime, but it probably ranges close to a 100. There are many salads out there being called caesar salads that are not worthy of the name salad let alone caesar salad. Now the one at Nancy's was by no means the best I have ever had, but it was very good. The scampi was not like a scampi you might expect from any other place in town, first there were scallops in it and second there was a cream sauce. So, I am not sure it really should have been called a scampi, but that I can overlook because whatever you might want to call it, you can definitely call it good.

The rhubarb pie that cost $3.95...I don't even remember when I last paid $3.95 for a dessert worth eating. The pie was actually a little sweet for my taste. I like rhubarb things to be really sour, but I do realize I am in the minority there.

PS. For those of you actually reading Steve's review. I know you think he is kidding that he came to tears at the end of the meal, but he wasn't. He actually did start tearing up, he does have allergies this time of the year, so that did help the effect, but tears nonetheless.

  • Lobster Bisque $2.50
  • Tuscan Pasta $12.95
  • Key Lime Pie $3.95

Nancy's Landing brought me to tears at the end of the meal. Finally, a good restaurant with a great view. Nancy's Landing is on Lake Waconia with a lovely view of the marina and the lake. The interior is a simple seafood shop with red and white checkerboard tablecloths that they cover with paper.

The lobster bisque was excellent. It had a thick tomato basil flavor, and it was great even though the lobster flavor was hardly discernible.

The Tuscan chicken pasta consisted of chicken with artichokes, basil, and roasted tomatoes over spaghettini finished in olive oil and wine. The flavors blended together well. The fresh artichokes contrasted the roasted tomatoes, and each complimented the chicken. This was an excellent value for the portion size and quality of food.

The key lime pie was priced right, but only of average quality. It's good enough to enjoy, but not good enough to rave about. It was a standard pie, nothing spectacular. This hardly detracted from an excellent experience at an excellent restaurant.
