  • Tofu Puffs $5.50 (shared)
  • Green Onion Chinese Pancake Wraps $14.95

Rice Paper was the perfect restaurant for its location. It served great quality asian fusion food in a very well appointed space.

I really did enjoy my meal at Rice Paper, everything tasted fresh and was well flavored. The Tofu Puffs were fun and had a great dipping sauce. The pancake wrap was an interesting take on the more traditional way of eating Chinese pancakes. They were a bit of challenge to eat since they where very full and a bit soggy, but that is quibbling a bit. They were served with three great dipping sauces.

Rice Paper was a bit expensive, but it was prices about right for its location and it did do some fun different things to almost justify all of the prices. I am not sure I would drive across town to go there, but if your in the area, it is a place to check out.

  • Cellophane Duo $14.95

Call me a fool for Asian fusion. I like the fun and delectable twists on traditional Asian cuisine. It’s inventive, giving it something special compared to Chinese dishes you find everywhere. While everyone many have their favorite spot for egg rolls or Kung Pao chicken, many Asian fusion restaurants serve unique dishes. This can be a train wreck, it can be confusing and dangerous, or in Rice Paper’s case, a wonderful mystery unfolding in front of you.

The tofu puffs were marvelous. While they may seem expensive on the menu, where else in the Twin Cities can you find five comparable tofu puffs, each a small wonder waiting to melt in your mouth? The menu describes them as: “Crispy tofu, rolled in green onion oil, drizzled with a sweet and tangy Thai sauce, topped with fresh roasted peanuts and crispy shallots.” I would put this on my list of five tofu dishes to convert tofu fence-sitters into tofu believers.

I also loved the Cellophane Duo, a newer dish on Rice Paper’s menu. The bean cakes, noodles, and curry were each attentively prepared.

A few final notes:

  • Expect a crowd
  • Expect good service
  • Compare to Azia, although this isn’t necessarily an impress-your-first-date place
