We sat on the patio per our son's request and had a lovely meal on a lovely summer evening. The meal really was also lovely. I had the shrimp tacos and they were some of the best I have had, the shrimp perfectly cooked with a nice amount of spice. Yum. They were willing to substitute the sweet potato fries for the chips and I am glad I asked because they were easily the best I have had. They literally melted in you mouth which I was not even aware sweet potato fries could do. I think I may have a new favorite place in the uptown area, a least on those perfect summer evenings. |
I remember Urban Eatery mostly because we sat outside on a beautiful summer night watching traffic go by on Lake Street, sailboats on Lake Calhoun, and wedding guests arrive for a fancy reception. The food was surprisingly good. I only say that because a restaurant in that location can be tempted to rely too much on the beautiful space and proximity to densely populated uptown. The whiskey soy grilled salmon was very tasty: a very good piece of salmon with seasoning that did not overpower the flavor of the fish. The stir fry vegetables were fresh and the lo mein was good. Overall, Urban Eatery is a place worth trying if you're in the area. |
