I have heard much about this place, but usually in regards to their weekend dim sum, which I have heard is really good. If the dinner was any indication, I would bet it is quite good.

We started with the crispy seafood rolls, which were ok, they were a bit oily, I thought and the sauce was just mayo as far as I could tell.

Steve and I apparently were both in noodle moods, perhaps because we did not have our weekly weeknight dinner of spaghetti with some sort of sauce on it, so we both ordered noodle dishes. Upon further reflection, I probably should have changed my order so we could have tried something else as well, since their menu is huge and the possibilities seemed endless. But I stuck with my noodle order and Steve with his and we had noodles.

I like the flavoring of my noodle dish better, but the seafood in Steve's was outstanding, if those two had been put together I think it would have been a perfect dish. Separately, I felt they were both still very good dishes. The one disappointing thing about both of them was they were both marked as spicy on the menu and when I ordered I said something about looking forward to spicy, but neither were at all spicy.

They also had a great selection of drinks any of which you could add pearled tapioca to make them even better. So I had some great bubble tea to round out the meal.

Yummy is one place I would need to visit several times to seriously review. The pages upon pages of entrées are intimidating and enticing, as are the wall of live seafood tanks. However, in the end, we are a one-time only review site, so here goes. I liked the ginger tea that they served with the meal. It was out of the ordinary from the typical Chinese restaurant. Renee seemed to like the tapioca in the bottom of her tea, and individually sucking the tapioca balls through her straw from the cluster at the bottom was an entertaining end to the meal.

I was less than impressed with the Yummy Crispy Seafood Roll. The fish in the roll was okay, though not exceptional, and the crispy exterior reminded me more of Long John Silvers than exceptional Chinese restaurant. The creamy dipping sauce was on the bland side, not adding much complexity to the flavor combination.

I was very impressed with the variety, quality, doneness, and taste of the seafood in the Chow Fun Malaysian Style. There were recognizable bits of fresh shrimp, scallops, calamari, and crab, each done to perfection. I also enjoyed the wide, springy noodles. The overall rating of the dish was lowered in my estimation by the over oily and over oniony flavor. I understand it’s a delicate balance to complement the seafood without overpowering it. But here, the restaurant does not try to add another flavor that would take the dish over the top. In my mind, that leaves the diner wanting. Finally, I also expected hot and spicy as the menu indicated. There was no hint of spicy in the entrée.

I’d like to go back to Yummy to try more dishes. I know that’s unlikely, but in this place more than others, I feel there’s a lot of exploring to do on the menu.
