I have been to Zakia a quite a few times, normally for lunch. I would like to say that I have tried most of the menu and it is all good. While I suspect it is, I have yet to get myself to order anything beyond the falafel sandwich. While this one is not as big as the one you get at Holyland, it is head and tails better. I am not sure what it is they do, but the falafel are tastier, the sauce fresher somehow and they add pickles I am not sure if that is the secret, but I love it. So we will go back and if you are in the area check it out.

We knew that Zakia Deli closed at 6 p.m. on Saturdays, so we shouldn’t have been surprised when we pulled into the parking lot at 5 p.m. to see the staff sweeping up through the windows. Naturally, we took our sandwiches to go so that they wouldn’t have to sweep again after our one year old finished his New York Yankee tryout pitching some kafta meatballs. Really, he’s not that messy, but we didn’t want to push it.

Renee and I have been to Zakia Deli before separately, and we have enjoyed the sandwiches we’ve had there. Of course, we must have been under ordering pressure because we both ordered sandwiches that we had before. Then again, with plastic wrap over all of the food, we didn’t want to push it. The staff quickly and graciously made our sandwiches, and they were as good as we had them before, which was excellent. Service was quick and extremely friendly on both of my visits. It is a quick service/deli/sandwich shop, so don’t expect too many frills. The menu is limited to sandwiches and salads, so don’t expect the breadth of Holy Land Deli or Marina’s. But that and the ample parking lot make it an ideal lunch spot.
